What if...

What if you could dream a dream so big that no one could believe in it but you? What if you cared less about what others thought and did more of what makes you happy?
What if you let go of fears and gave way to hope and love and laughter?
What if you remembered to be more like the person you wanted to be when you were 5?
What if you dared to let go of your past failures and set forth on a new journey?
What if you never gave up when the odds seemed to be 100% against you?
What if you finally realized your potential and ran to it, full force?

If we dared to dream, without boundaries, if we gave in to our seemingly impossible visions, if we spread our wings and dared to soar, how unstoppable we would be!

Nice Guys Finish Last

Well, well, well!! It has been a long 2 years since I've posted anything to my blog, and in that time A LOT has changed! We've moved and started a new journey in a not so new place, but definitely under different circumstances and with 3 little people this time =) We are back in the place we met, Charleston, SC. Anyway, I have recently felt inspired to start blogging again, so many things going on and of course in true blogger fashion, I must share them all with my readers.

I recently had a conversation with an old friend about life, love, and work. At the very end he said to me, "They say nice guys finish last, and its so true". It is true, in this world the majority of people are looking out for themselves with no regard for anyone else's feelings. They are in short, selfish. We can blame parents, we can blame celebrities, we can blame society, but in the end people are people. They are responsible for their own actions, and also accountable for them. Nice guys may finish last in most areas, but I believe that no good deed goes unnoticed. I refuse to change who I am as a person just because I may end up hurt, or with the short end of the stick.

In this life, we only get one chance to leave our legacy, to make our mark on this world. I can guarantee you, not a single person on their death bed has said "I should have been more mean", or "I should have been more selfish", and if they have I'm just glad I didn't know them lol. Our purpose in life is to help others, it is easy to live for yourself, but the real accomplishment in life is to live a selfless life, to give yourself to others, to use your talents to help others. What good would any invention or discovery be if they had never been shared with the rest of the world? Nice guys may finish last most of the time, but I would rather die from saving someone else, than to live with the guilt of saving myself instead.

Help

Father help me from falling apart, help me when I don't know where to start.
Help me when I begin to stray, when my soul begins to slip away.
Lord I need you more and more, trepidation lurks behind each door, waiting for my dreams to devour, like a lion in the midnight hour.
Speak to my heart so that I may hear, your sweet still voice drawing me near.
How my heart longs for you, my soul is thirsting for you too, with a thirst only satiable by your presence and a relationship with you.
I'm crying out to you from deep within, cleanse my heart from unrighteousness and sin, make me new make me over again.
This is my heart's desire

Feeling broken

To those of you feeling broken, feeling tired of life, tired of the hand you've been dealt, this is to you.
Life sometimes has a way of beating you down. You fight and you try with everything in you just to keep your feet on the ground, and once again you are overcome by stress.
Don't give up, no, don't you quit. Just when it seems like you can't take it anymore, that is when you must hang in there. For in those times, it is then you know that your change is near.
You were made for this, you were built for this, and with every adversity there will come victory. You can make it, you will make it, and if you give up now you will never know how close you were.
Trouble doesn't last forever, even when it seems like it will, just hold your head high and remember that in this life there will always be conflict rising against you, but you can overcome, you will overcome.

To You

To you, the woman who was broken, broken by a man, broken by circumstances, broken by love, broken by life.
To the woman who cries herself to sleep at night, feeling ever so lonely although he is laying right next to her.
To the woman whose heart breaks with every word that was lied to her, when she found out the truth about her fiance at 6 months pregnant.
To the woman who lost the baby in her womb, thinking she was 3 months along, only to find out the baby had passed almost a month prior.
To the woman who feels unlovable, unworthy of love for all the things she's done in her past.
To the woman who wants to die, because she cannot cope with the memories and shame done to her, by her own flesh and blood.
To the woman who thinks she will never find love, never find an honest man, a faithful man.
To you, I want to say that there is hope and I am living proof.

Emotions

My heart aches, I'm losing my breath,
I can't think straight my mind is racing around in my head.
The distance is cold, the silence is deafening,
The dreams that I'm having of you isn't lessening,
The pain that I'm feeling from not having you here,
Some days so unpleasant I end them in tears,
But I'm waiting for you, waiting for your love,
Waiting for your arms to come scoop me up,
To pull me to your chest where I can hear your heart,
Beating so hard as if life had just started,
And in that moment warm tears will flood my cheeks,
And I'll think to myself, "My family is finally complete!",
And I'll lose myself while I'm wrapped up in you,
I'll forget about time and even the distance too,
It will all be worth it if just for that reason alone,
When the waiting is over and you're finally home.
As for tonight, I'll have to pretend,
That this pillow lying next to me is really you, my best friend,
But it can't rub my back and it can't hold my hand,
And it can't kiss my forehead or tell me it's plans.
At times I feel so lonely, what can I do?
Even a room full of people is empty without you.
I feel like I'm missing a body part,
Not an arm or a leg, much more like my heart.
It's outside my body and I feel like I'm searching,
Searching for it, but nothing is working.
I scream and I plead and I beg for it to return,
Hoping that in doing so I'll lessen the burn.
The burn that I felt when it was ripped from my chest
And I realized that without it I still had to progress,
To keep moving and fighting
To keep living and not dying
Even though I want to collapse on the floor,
and continue on fighting this fight no more.
It doesn't even matter, I don't have a choice,
I have to keep going until the next time I can hear your voice,
And when that will be,
I guess I'll have to wait and see.
I love you, I love you, I love you my heart,
So unfortunate that we must be apart
But don't think for a second that I'm getting along fine,
I just put up a good front most of the time.
The truth is I'm really falling to pieces,
Like a paper that's folded and torn at the creases.
Time for now is passing so slowly,
And my emotions just continue rolling
Down today and up tomorrow,
One minute I'll be fine and the next drowning in sorrow.

About Me!!

Hello all! My name is Rachel Smith. I've decided to start this blog after a good friend suggested I start one, along with some encouraging words =) At first I was a little skeptical, thinking "Who would want to read what I write?", but the fact is that someone will. It may not be everyone, but someone will read it, and the words that I blog just may help that someone. So, if one person can read my blog and find some sense of encouragement, a little ray of hope where there once was none, then to me it is worth it. Well, a little about me, I'm a Navy veteran and the wife of a Sailor who is currently serving our country overseas, that was the reason for naming my blog "Life in Navy blue". We have 3 beautiful children, the youngest of the bunch was born during this deployment and hasn't met daddy yet. He did get to see her on Skype (yay technology!!), but he won't get to hold her or kiss her for the first time until she is about 7 months old. Our oldest is 4 years old, our middle baby and only boy is 20 months old, and our youngest 7 weeks. I have been writing ever since I can remember, at first it was songs, then poetry, any way that I could express myself in word form, I loved. Words, in written form. can be so beautiful; they can bring out emotions in you that you never knew existed, they can express emotions so deep and invoke thought. So, I will be sharing with you all my journey through everyday life in my own words and I hope that some of you can relate and find comfort in knowing you're not alone =)
